Alexander Rogers came to massage therapy as a patient. He was having paralytic lower back spasms in a previous career, and after talking it through with his physician he tried massage as the treatment. Six months of one-hour sessions, once a month. Completely pain and spasm free at the end of it.
Years later he enrolled at the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy.
What he says he fell for there was the science: anatomy, physiology and kinesiology together, which is what lets him find the root cause of a muscular problem rather than chase where it hurts. The practice is built on that, plus giving you something to do so it doesn’t come back.
Two locations, one price
He works from That Massage Place in Aspinwall and Neighborhood Massage Therapy at 5850 Ellsworth Avenue in Shadyside.
Thirty minutes is $55, an hour is $80, ninety minutes is $120. No one else on the directory lists a flat hour under that, though Grace Astraea’s sliding scale starts lower. He notes pricing adjusts slightly between the two locations, so ask if it matters.
Aspinwall has a metered lot and street parking; Shadyside is on-street metered.
His modalities are hot stone, neuromuscular therapy, Swedish and trigger point, and his Pennsylvania licence is verified with the Department of State.
