Iva Provias Lesh does massage with her feet.
That needs explaining, because it isn’t what most people picture. Barefoot massage, or ashiatsu, isn’t walking on someone. It uses the broad, grounded surface of the foot to deliver pressure that’s deeper and far more even than a hand can manage. Her own description of what clients say: it’s often the first time they’ve had the level of pressure they’d been asking for.
She works out of Bear Paw Massage Studio at 820 Evergreen Avenue in Millvale, eleven years into practice.
Who it suits
Athletes. Larger-bodied clients. Anyone who has spent years asking for more pressure and getting a polite approximation of it.
That last group is the one Iva is most direct about. She’s built the practice around making every body feel supported, and barefoot work is a big part of how, because the pressure scales without turning into a fight.
The studio
820 Evergreen has a ramp entrance at the back and an elevator, which makes it one of the more accessible spaces on the directory. Free parking in the lot. She runs a floor-model HEPA filter continuously and will mask on request.
Sessions are $120 for 60 minutes, $160 for 90, and $210 for two hours. Ten Google reviews at a 5.0 average, plus a handful here.
She also teaches continuing education for other massage therapists, which is its own kind of endorsement.
