Why We Built This

Between the two of us, we have more than 15 years of massage experience, and we still struggle to find our brethren. They're out there — brilliant, skilled, deeply committed practitioners running their own quiet, peaceful businesses. But in the peace of it all, there's not a corporate marketing budget.

Search results are clogged with faceless franchises. Independent LMT websites, labors of love though they are, get pitiful views. LMTs aren’t web designers, — well, actually, Anthony is — but damnit if we won't give it a whack in service of the practice we're trying to build.

And when we can't find each other, how can clients outside the small community of practitioners find us?

We built the Pittsburgh Massage Directory to change that. We wanted one place that is easily shared, easily remembered — a place to bring clients and therapists together in a community that rejects the idea that massage therapy is a game of competition.

We believe that every practitioner brings something entirely their own to the table: their training, their touch, their intuition, their presence. There is a right therapist for every client, and often there are different right therapists for different needs within the same client. This directory isn't about creating rankings or surfacing the "best." It's about helping you find yours.

We built the Pittsburgh Massage Directory because independent LMTs are brave. The work is physical and emotional in ways that are hard to describe if you haven't done it. Running a solo practice means you're not just kneading and healing — you are your own front desk, your own accountant, your own laundry service, your own website designer. You're filling your books and filing your quarterly taxes and doing eight loads of laundry a week, while finding the softness and acuity to treat Don's plantar fasciitis.
