Structural Integration (SI) is a system of hands-on bodywork focused on reorganizing the body's connective tissue—particularly the fascia—to restore alignment, balance, and efficient movement in relation to gravity. The approach was originally developed by Ida P. Rolf and has since been expanded and adapted by numerous practitioners and schools, all working within the foundational framework she established. SI practitioners assess the whole body as an interconnected system, identifying patterns of strain, compensation, and misalignment that may contribute to pain, limited mobility, or chronic tension. Treatment is delivered through sustained, informed contact with the fascial network, often accompanied by movement cues that help the client integrate structural changes in real time. Most SI approaches are delivered in a series of sessions designed to progressively address the body from superficial to deep tissue layers and from local areas to global organization.
